I Shouted To Her Repeatedly - Visitor's Lost Love Poem

by Francis X. Reilly (Corky Pflegmhocker)
(Williamsport, PA, U.S.A.)

I hadn't seen her in years-
so when I thought I spotted her
on a crowded city sidewalk
that cold Christmas eve afternoon,
I shouted to her repeatedly:
"MAGDALENA! MAGDALENA!"

"Was it you... was it you?"
I sobbed,
as she quickly disappeared
into the large crowd of Christmas shoppers.
And then I screamed:
"DEAR MERCIFUL GOD! WAS IT YOU?"

"Dear merciful God! Was it you?" The funniest line I ever read. You are the greatest poet that has ever walked this earth!

This is a hilarious poem! The last line is the comedic line...the clincher.
